What the Race Cats Competition Team?
The Race Cats Competition Running Program is for self-driven kids who are looking for more running and increased structure. The focus will be on proper technique, training plans and racing strategies. The competition season extends into December when those kids who would like to run at Nationals will have a chance to compete. Expenses for any and all national meets must be paid by the athlete. (We may not have a coach at Nationals, but will train up until the race)!
Who is it for?
- 8-15 year old runners who love running and want a little more challenging running program (perhaps to train for another sport).
- Middle School aged runners.
- Kids who have the goal of racing at the USATF State Meet and/or qualifying for a National Level Meet.
- Kids who can run at least 2-3 miles without stopping before the first practice.
Additional cost to be aware of
USATF Youth Membership (only needed to compete in the USATF State & National level Meets): $25/yr.
USATF Association Meet Fee: $10 (approximately)
USATF Nationals Meet Fee: $20 (approximately)
Race Cats Competition members who would like to compete at Nationals are responsible for their own travel arrangements.
Registration Details
Registration Fee ($250) Includes:
- 2-3 x week practices from August 30th -mid December 2022.
- Practices will be held Tuesday/Thursday @ 4:45-6:00 (subject to change). Tuesdays are typically at Daybreak Elementary and Thursdays rotate between a few parks in the South Jordan/Herriman area.
- Trail runs will be offered a few times throughout the season.
- Free entry into two Race Cats hosted races. (Normally $10/meet)
- Full season training schedule with daily mileage suggestions for kids who want more guidance.
- Practice attendance is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged. The more your child attends practice, the more they will improve
- *Competition team members will need to purchase their own USATF membership in order to run at the USATF State Meet and National Meet. Participants will be responsible for their own meet fees of $10-$20 for the USATF meets.
- Refund Policy: Refund will be issued (minus a $20 processing fee) through September 12th. After September 12th, no refunds will be given.
