What is the Competition Team?

The Race Cats Comp Running Program is for self-driven kids who are looking for more running and increased structure. The focus will be on proper technique, training plans and racing strategies. The Elite season extends into December when those kids who would like to run at Nationals will have a chance to compete.  Expenses for any and all national meets must be paid by the athlete.  (We will not have a coach at Nationals, but will train up until the race)! 

Who is it for?

  • 8-15 year old runners who want a little more structure in their training and opportunities for racing.
  • Kids who have the goal of racing at the USATF State Meet and qualifying for USATF Junior Olympic Nationals.
  • Middle school cross country runners who want an additional training day during their season and want to continue training after their season ends.
  • Kids who play another sport but also love to run and want to compete at the highest level.

Additional cost to be aware of

USATF Youth Membership: $25/yr.

USATF Association Meet Fee: $10

USATF Nationals Meet Fee: $20

Race Cats Comp members who would like to join us at the Junior Olympic Nationals are responsible for their own travel arrangements.

Registration Details

Cost: $260

Registration Fee Includes:

  • 2 x week practices from September 9th-mid December 2026.
  • Practices:
    • Monday/Wednesday 4:30-5:30 pm at Nicholls Park in Fruit Heights
  • Free entry into 2 Race Cats hosted races. (Normally $10/meet)
  • Full season training schedule with daily mileage suggestions for kids who want more guidance.
  • Practice attendance is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged. The more your child attends practice, the more they will improve
  • *Competition team members will need to purchase their own  USATF membership in order to run at the USATF State Meet and Nationals Meet.  Participants will be responsible for their own meet fees of $10-$20 for the USATF meets.
  • Refund Policy: Refund will be issued (minus a $20 processing fee) through September 12th.  After September 12th, no refunds will be given.
