2017 Race Cats Elite

What is Race Cats Elite?

The Race Cats Elite program is designed to be supplementary to your child's middle school cross country training, Race Cats training, or participation in another sport.

Practices will begin with once a week workouts from Oct. 21-Nov. 4, 2017 then we will move to 3Xweek workouts from Nov. 5-Dec. 9, 2017 in preparation for racing the following distances at USATF State meet and USATF Jr. Nationals:

  • 8 and Under (born in 2009 or later) race a 2K (1.24 mile)
  • 9-12 years old (born in 2008-05) race a 3K (1.86 mile)
  • 13-14 years old (born in 2004-03) race a 4K (2.46mile)
  • 15-18 years old (born in 2002-1999) race a 5K (3.1 mile)

How does it work?

At the USATF Utah State Meet, the top 10 individuals and 1st place team in every age-division and gender qualify to compete in the USATF Jr. Olympic Nationals.

In 2016, our Race Cats Elite teams won 1st place in every division where we had a full team of 7 runners.

Participation in Race Cats Elite does not guarantee that your child will qualify for USATF Nationals, but if gives them a very good chance of qualifying.

If you are unsure about whether Race Cats Elite is a good fit for your child, please email Nan Kennard nan@racecats.org

Who is it for?

  • 7-14 year old runners who consistently place in the top 10 for their gender and age division and who want a little more volume and structure to their training.
  • Kids who have the goal of racing at the USATF State Meet and qualifying for USATF Junior Olympic Nationals.
  • Middle school cross country team members who want an additional training day during their season and want to continue training after their season ends.
  • Multi-Sport kids who play another sport which inhibits them from participating on their school's cross country team, but who also want to develop their endurance and compete at the highest level.
